Unlike other non-event-based BI technologies that simply analyze data as a series of records, Altosoft understands data as a sequence of events. This core capability allows Altosoft to go beyond ordinary BI solutions to support true business process intelligence.
The ability to deliver critical information such as “How long does it take to resolve an average customer issue?” or “What was the average time it took to process an order in the last hour?” is predicated on the ability to understand the order and timing of events in a process context. Traditional BI solutions aren’t designed to do this. But Altosoft is architected from the ground up to support this event-based approach to BI.
Altosoft has developed a process state engine that enables us to track and monitor events and correlate them to business processes. With this technology, we can monitor any business process, even if it unfolds across multiple operational systems. We can report on general process performance or even drill down to monitor individual process instances. And our state engine is smart enough to realize that processes don’t always occur in nice easy sequence. Sometimes there are exceptions, looping, and other unusual activities. Altosoft is able to track and analyze them all.
How does it work?
For example, let’s say we are tracking an order shipment process for an online retailer. By tracking business events related to this process as they occur, we can tell you not only how efficient your warehouse operation is at picking and filling orders, we can also tell you when an individual order may be stuck in the process (and send you an alert). We can even monitor and create an audit trail for process exceptions, making this capability ideal for compliance applications.
