Altosoft’s Intelligent Data Aggregation (IDA) architecture forms the basis of Altosoft’s MetricsMart capability. IDA minimizes query load on source data systems while delivering real-time or right-time performance for monitoring and analysis. IDA leverages a unique in-memory calculation engine to make this possible. This enables Altosoft to deal effectively with some of the biggest challenges of traditional BI – low latency data requirements and large data volumes.

IDA is based on the fundamental principle that you only need to pull information from source systems if business users need it. It’s an entirely different approach from traditional warehouse-based BI where you start by moving move all the data. IDA makes sure we are only moving the important, relevant data. IDA also manages interactions with data sources so they are only queried when business users need fresh data. And when we query those systems, we use simple, highly optimized queries that only pull changes to the data since our last update. Altosoft has proven that even in the most demanding customer environments, IDA reduces load on source databases to a level significantly below traditional batch ETL processes.

After data has been acquired from source systems, Altosoft employs a unique, 2nd generation in-memory engine. This enables high speed data aggregation and processing for complex joins and other calculations across multiple data sources.

With this technology, we dramatically accelerate outer joins and other calculations and transformations that bog down traditional data integration architectures. Our technology here leverages cache accelerators that accelerate complex operations like multi-source outer joins with intelligent calculation and compression algorithms for optimized memory management. In addition, analytics-oriented optimization and smart aggregation technology enables Altosoft Insight to intelligently optimize in-memory data structures based on requirements for downstream KPI delivery.

Unlike first generation in-memory BI systems that offer high performance analytics but are essentially disconnected from source data and only support infrequent batch updates, Altosoft’s second generation in-memory architecture enables dynamic updates directly from operational data sources.

Even in the most complex environments, where very large amounts of data from multiple sources must be joined, IDA and in-memory technology enable Altosoft to offer real-time performance with minimal load on operational systems.
