It’s easy to understand why this is revolutionary. Traditional BI is highly code intensive. Data queries and transformations require extensive SQL code. Visualization and dashboards require J2EE, C++, HTML, and/or XML. Many BI solutions also force you to learn proprietary scripting languages.

• Data configuration, setup, and deployment are managed via the Insight Studio application. Insight Studio automatically generates highly optimized SQL code based on graphical data mappings. This code can be viewed, edited, and tested within the Studio environment. Of course, if you have existing SQL code you have previously developed and optimized, you can reuse it in Studio. Just cut and paste.
• Dashboard design is 100% in-browser, with a drag-and-drop environment that uses the latest AJAX technology plus interactive components for data visualization that leverage Adobe Flash. Role-based or individually personalized dashboards are developed in minutes. A user simply just drags visual components from our design palette, places them in the dashboard, steps through a short configuration wizard, and is instantly visualizing real-time data.
• Business rules for automatic alerts are also developed in the browser using a simple wizard-based interface.

Why is 100% codeless BI important?

Intuitively it seems obvious. But it’s worth highlighting a few reasons why 100% codeless business intelligence matters:

• Writing code takes time. Writing code manually is a time consuming exercise. Developer resources are a scarce commodity. By moving to a zero code model, developers spend less time writing and debugging code. Plus, users who don’t have coding skills can participate more actively in solution development.
• Code is for developers, but BI is for business. Delivering business intelligence solutions is a shared responsibility between business and IT. A 100% visual environment for solution development enables higher levels of interaction and collaboration between business and IT. Business users can also take much more active control of elements like dashboard layouts and rules-based alerts.
• Manual code contains mistakes.
