Architecture and Performance
printAltosoft has completely re-thought traditional BI by focusing on the information needs of end users. We apply the most modern technical approach at each point in our architecture, including high-performance in-memory processing and advanced Intelligent Data Acquisition (IDA) technology. We go beyond traditional BI by supporting real-time events, business process analysis, and incident management. And we’ve made the entire package simple to use by eliminating the need to code and providing one single, 100% codeless interface for all configuration.
The architecture is explicitly designed to support the requirements of low latency, operational business intelligence applications. KPIs are calculated and delivered based on business requirements for data latency, without architectural limitation.
There are three primary elements in the Altosoft architecture:
- The InsightBI layer, which is the front end of the Insight platform providing dashboarding, reporting, and other interfaces into Insight’s monitoring and analysis capability.
- MetricsMart, which handles data acquisition, aggregation, calculation, and optimization. MetricsMart is available as a standalone product, or integrated with the InsightBI platform.
- Insight Studio, which is the single configuration environment for all Altosoft components.
Altosoft’s architecture is designed for scalability and performance. MetricsMart uses Intelligent Data Aggregation technology to insulate source data systems from heavy query load, their performance is never affected. KPI and process data delivered by MetricsMart is pre-optimized. That data can be persisted into a relational database such as SQL Server or Oracle; or alternatively into a high performance warehouse such as Netezza. Finally, Insight Analysis Servers can be deployed to provide linear, unlimited scalability for end users (via reports, dashboards, Microsoft Office plug-ins, Sharepoint portals, etc.) or web services queries.
