Traditional business intelligence reporting involves pre-definition of standard reports, which are then published and distributed periodically or, in some cases, can be refreshed on demand. While existing reporting solutions make publication and distribution of reports relatively easy, the process for creating new reports is remains difficult and time consuming. Typically, a business user requiring a new report is dependent on IT to create that report for him. From an IT perspective, report development is done using a fat client design tool, and may even require schema changes or cube development at the data warehouse level. If the report needs to incorporate data that is not currently available in the warehouse, it can often take IT months to create and deliver a new report due to the weaknesses of existing tools to easily accommodate new data sources.

Insight Reports is an available module specifically designed to support end-user driven report development. Based on user- and role-based permissions, individuals can create, customize, modify, and publish report. Report development is browser-based with dynamic, intuitive, drag-and-drop design experience, leveraging the same AJAX technology used in Altosoft’s unique web-based dashboard development application. Like all Altosoft solutions, Insight Reports is 100% codeless – no SQL or any other coding or scripting is required. Insight Reports features powerful scoping and filtering capability, so information presented in all reports is automatically personalized based on user role and data access privileges. Business users can create and maintain individual libraries of reports; schedule reports for publication; share reports; and publish reports or books of reports automatically using server-based Adobe .pdf generation. And of course, Insight Reports leverages Altosoft’s high performance, low-latency BI architecture, making it easy to add new data sources, combine data from disparate sources in new ways, and deliver multidimensional information quickly and efficiently.
