The core of the Altosoft Insight operational business intelligence platform is the Altosoft Analytics Server. The Analytics Server is designed to deliver powerful analytics and predictive capability in the most complex business environments, where massive scalability and ability to support high transaction volumes and/or very large databases are prerequisites.
The Analytics Server aggregates, optimizes, and analyzes data from multiple data sources, including relational databases, data warehouses, and operational systems such as ERP, CRM, etc. This enables powerful, real-time data analysis, visualization, and reporting across multiple multi-terabyte data sources without the need for a data warehouse. The Analytics Server also processes and analyzes transactions from external systems such as ERP or SCM in the context of a broad operational business process. This enables holistic process analytics that encompass processes that span multiple enterprise applications. Real-time and/or right-time data from events or database sources is combined with contextual information (such as historical data or other content) and delivered to end users via Altosoft’s dashboard capability.
The Analytics Server contains six independent modules which work together in a service oriented architecture:
KPI Calculation Engine and Monitor. The KPI Engine continuously calculates and monitors user-defined key performance indicators (KPIs) from both database and event sources. If additional user-defined conditions (rules) are met, the KPI monitor triggers an alert which can be delivered via dashboard, email, SMS message, or portal.
Discovery Engine and Insight Studio. Coupled with the Insight Studio, the Discovery Engine enables Altosoft’s patent-pending Automatic Process Discovery technology. The Discovery Engine analyzes information from core operational systems and automatically defines a business process. This saves weeks or months of expensive and manual explicit process definition and radically speeds implementation times.
Process State Engine. The Process State Engine manages the state and the events (or changes in data located in databases) associated with every in-flight business process. Events and data changes are received from underlying operational systems through integration adapters. The Process State Engine receives the events or data changes from the adapters and then either correlates them to one of the running instances of a business process or starts a new process instance. Every step in every process is time stamped to support robust process analytics.
Prediction Server. The Prediction Server enables Altosoft’s patent-pending Predictive Process Analytics technology, which provides continuous simulation-based projection of all in-flight business processes based on real-time data feeds and actual resource levels. Predictive Process Analytics are ideal for accurate near term forecasting that can have an enormous impact on operational success.
Integration Adapters. An extensive adapter library enables integration with the leading integration systems, SOA infrastructure products, enterprise applications, and application servers. These include products from notable vendors such as IBM, HP, Microsoft, Systinet, BEA, Oracle, JBoss, TIBCO, SAP, and more. Altosoft connects directly to these systems and monitors events and data in real time. No extraction or transformation process or creation of an operational data store is required.
Microsoft Adapters. Now, the power of Altosoft Insight can be leveraged directly within Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint (2003 and 2007), as well as the Sharepoint portal. Altosoft’s Microsoft Adapters make it easy to publish data to these ubiquitous productivity tools and keep that data up to date with the press of a button.
