Altosoft Launches Next Generation Operational Business Intelligence Solution

Company combines traditional BI, BAM and BPM technologies with patent-pending innovations to leap-frog existing solutions

Newtown Square, PA., February 26, 2007. Altosoft, the leading provider of Operational Performance Management (OPM) solutions, today announced the launch of Altosoft Insight, a business optimization suite that overcomes the limitations of first generation Operational Business Intelligence (OBI) products. Altosoft Insight uniquely combines the best elements of Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), Business Intelligence (BI), Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) and Incident Management disciplines with advanced Web 2.0 technology to eliminate the use of existing offerings and to meet the unique demands of OBI.

Altosoft Insight includes a series of optional modules that allow users to flexibly license and configure OBI solutions from basic dashboards to advanced workflow driven solutions that are able to precisely predict operational changes to a business that can occur in intervals as short as minutes. Designed to promote rapid design and deployment of OBI solutions, all capabilities are seamlessly integrated and require absolutely no coding. In addition to filling traditional OBI products’ capability gaps, Altosoft Insight has been engineered to insulate users from the significant learning curve typical of traditional tools and costly database and software development time.

“Operational Business Intelligence problems far exceed the capabilities of traditional BI, BAM and dashboard solutions,” said Scott Opitz, CEO of Altosoft. “Instead of re-purposing existing technologies designed for different problems, we started from a clean sheet of paper to design a solution that uniquely addresses the significant challenges companies are facing in managing their fast-paced and exception-driven day-to-day problems which can have a dramatic long-term effect on their productivity and profitability.”

Altosoft Insight was specifically designed to meet the six key requirements either missing or inadequate from first generation OBI solutions:

Automatic Process Discovery – automatic discovery of business processes without the need for users to research, document and manually implement them using traditional tools

Combining Historical and Real-time Data – combines both historic data and real-time data from numerous event/message based sources and transactional systems of record without the need to aggregate data using a data warehouse “data cube” approach and overcoming the latency of greater than one day found with 95% of enterprise data

Predictive Process Analytics – automatic high-precision prediction of actual, real-time business impacts of sudden changes in enterprise processes and business conditions

Integrated Incident Management – a rich, workflow-based alerting and incident tracking system that includes root-cause analysis, automotive alert aggregation, escalations and verification of efficacy of actions taken

Dashboard Server – a non-coding dashboard system that supports user-definable and customizable role-based dashboards through an entirely browser-based drag-and-drop design including customization of Incident Management interactions

Microsoft Productivity Tools Integration – seamless integration with Microsoft Office and SharePoint products allowing users to access Insight resources natively from within their favorite productivity tools

The problems associated with OBI are generally aligned with those standing in the way of broader adoption of conventional BI technology. As frequently evidenced in customer surveys, the major inhibitors to broader adoption of BI technology include difficulty of implementation and accessibility to less technically savvy users. Since OBI is all about speed of implementation and use by a broad base of operational workers these data show a direct conflict in attempting to solve OBI problems using traditional BI products.

Altosoft Insight enables companies to monitor and improve their daily operations in real-time in numerous ways across a variety of industries. Manufacturers can detect suddenly changes in channel demand and optimize their supply chains, dynamically adjust warehouse and manufacturing line staffing requirements and more reliably meet customer service level agreements. Banks can detect sudden changes in load on call center requirements that could impact customer satisfaction metrics, understand the profitability of numerous lines of businesses in real-time. Retailers can monitor the real-time sales of products by any dimension and predict critical inventory conditions in time to re-balance inventory allocations or drop ship replenishment orders to outlets before they can impact sales and hurt customer satisfaction allowing retailers to more safely reduce stocking levels thereby reducing carrying costs.
